Perfection

On the train this morning I saw a man with some sort of growth behind his ear. It looked very odd and I thought, "Why doesn't he get that seen to?" Then I looked at my reflection in the window, noticed my numerous imperfections and smiled to myself: "Look who's talking!"

We have a culture that dictates normality and strives for perfection, when neither of these is actually real. We're all different, unique and imperfect, so why not embrace this rather than seek to enforce an unrealistic and even bland "normality"?

Its a good thing God loves us warts and all. Go love somebody "ugly" today.

Update

Sorry that I haven't posted for ages, but my new job involves quite long hours and leaves me pretty tired at the end of the day.

Its great being back at work, and doing stuff I actually enjoy again. I think though what I enjoy the most about the company is the cultural diversity. Where I live in Kent it is pretty much English white, middle-class, which is fine, but cultural diversity is even better. I love the fact that people regularly laugh out loud, clap in meetings at something good that was said, and actually touch each other now and then. :)

My commute on the train is long, but that gives me lots of time to read books and I wanted to commend a book to y'all: "Blue Like Jazz", by Donald Miller. Its a slightly irreverant look at Christianity (not God) that has left me pretty challenged. It feels slightly arrogant to say if you like reading me you'll like this book, but you know what I mean I hope.
